IETA Guidelines for High Integrity Use of Carbon Credits

IETA’s mission is to “Empower business to engage in climate action and pursue net zero ambitions to advance the Paris Agreement’s objectives”. Carbon credits and the VCM are critically important levers in this effort. While the market is evolving and there are ongoing efforts to strengthen integrity across both demand and supply, it is critical that paradigms attempting to define acceptable use of carbon credits support increased climate action and do not inadvertently limit it. In service of this mission, IETA has developed a set of guidelines which offer a pragmatic approach to the high integrity use of carbon credits by corporates in support of urgent action and net zero delivery.
