Chair: Jochen Gassner
Executive Board Member, First Climate Markets AG
Jochen is a Member of the Executive Board at First Climate Markets AG. He has been with the company for the last six years and is responsible for international business development a the management of the company's portfolio of voluntary carbon credits.
During 2008 and 2009 and again in 2015, Jochen has been a member of the Executive Committee at ICROA.
He has 15 years of experience in Environmental and Carbon Footprinting. Life Cycle Assessments and National Environmental Accounting. Before joining First Climate he has held the position of a sustainability manager at an international plastics manufacturer and has worked as an environmental consultant with industry clients. He obtained his master in environmental engineering from Leoben School of Mining and his PhD from Graz University of Technology, both in Austria.
Chair: Ana Aires Carpinteiro
Director or Partnerships and Communications, Nexus
Ana is responsible for the partnerships and communications teams at Nexus, leading the work on international business development and sales of the carbon credits portfolio. The team supports corporates in addressing climate-change impacts and development challenges, whilst driving funding to low-carbon development projects and social enterprises.
Before joining Nexus, Ana worked as a sustainability consultant and a project manager, helping businesses become more efficient and competitive by making smart sustainable choices. She has worked in environmental sustainability all her career, both in the private and public sectors, as well as with not-for-profit organisations. She is a specialist in stakeholder engagement and project delivery in environmental sustainability expert fields, with a multidisciplinary approach to environmental performance.
Within the environmental field, Ana has worked in policy research and implementation, awareness-raising, sustainability strategy and business consultancy for organisations including the City of Westminster, Forum for the Future and the International Living Future Institute. She holds a BA from Kingston University in London and an Msc from the University of London.
She is a keen hiker and scuba-diver and has lived in Asia for the past 3 years.
Programme Director: Simon Henry
Simon manages the day to day operations of ICROA and has over 9 years' experience in energy and climate change consultancy. Before joining ICROA, he was a Senior Consultant at Pöyry Management Consulting. In this role, his work focused on providing market analysis and commercial advice to a variety of European energy market stakeholders such as utilities, policy makers and regulators. This work included market modelling of European wholesale electricity and carbon prices, providing market and regulatory due diligence for project financing and M&A transactions, and leading a major study for the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) to analyse the alternative uses of biomass in decarbonising industrial sectors such as Iron & Steel, Cement and Glass.
Prior to joining Pöyry, he worked for AEA (now Ricardo Energy & Environment), for both private and public sector clients. Here his work focused on a number of areas including the EU ETS, life cycle assessments and carbon management.
Simon has an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and a BSc in Geography from the University of Southampton.
Programme Director: Sophy Greenhalgh
ICROA Secretariat (currently on Maternity Leave)
Sophy has over 10 years experience in climate change, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. She has worked as a consultant and project manager for the private sector, Department of Food and Rural Affairs and the EU commission, covering a variety of large scale climate and sustainability projects. Previously Sophy managed UK government's programme for resource efficiency in London. She has also been lead developer and author for a number of local and regional government climate change strategies. Sophy holds a Bsc in Geology and Geography and post grad in Environmental Management.
Project Assistant: Antoine Diemert
Antoine joined ICROA in April 2017 as a project assistant. He has a background in corporate finance and worked as an analyst at Kepler Cheuvreux in Geneva before joining ICROA. In this role he originated and executed mandates in the following fields: mergers & acquisitions, debt capital markets, equity capital markets. He previously worked for the UniCredit Group in Vienna and Paris where he helped set up a partnership with French asset manager Amundi and assisted Senior Bankers in their mandates with CAC40 member companies. Antoine holds a Master of Finance from ESSCA, France. In 2016 he obtained a certificate in climate and renewable energy finance from the Frankfurt School - UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance.
